Give your speech and writing a professional look with the help of ADJECTIVES

 

Some words can give your writing and speech a completely different look. Learning these words with a conscious effort will certainly improve your language skills. The second most important category of words is termed as "Adjectives" 

What are adjectives?

Adjective

1.    An adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun.

2.    Adjective is a word which tells us anything about noun or pronoun.

Examples:

Weak, strong, dirty, clean, brave, wise, nice etc.

Ali is weak at maths.

He is a strong boy. 

Your shirt is dirty.

 

HOMEWORK: Use adjective with these words. One has been done for you.

House- Big house

Laptop, road, country, dad, lion

 

Types of Adjectives:

1.  Proper Adjectives:

Proper adjectives are formed from proper nouns. Examples,

Platonic, English, Shakespearean, Pakistani etc.

 

  Class work

Form proper adjectives from nouns below.

Russia, Russian, childish,, Polish, Irish, Golden   

 

 

2.  Adjective of quality:

Adjective of quality describes a noun or pronoun’s any quality, be it good or bad.

 

Examples:

Bad, nice, lovely, fantastic , superb, satanic.

 

Class work:

Read the sentences below and then underline the adjectives in them.

1.     The lazy student didn’t look at her homework.

2.     The naughty dog barked at the neighbor’s cat.

3.     The brave soldier defended the castle in the wake of dawn.

4.     It was an excellent film.

5.     There is a red house on the book cover.

6.     The class went really well.
