ICH does not grant stay order on PTI's petition against ECP notices

On March 11, the Election commission Pakistan had issued a notice to PM Imran Khan and other public office holder for attending an election rally in Lower Dir in violation of the ECP rule of conduct.

Challenging the ECP’s notices, the minister said that the election could not overturn the law as election act has been amended through an ordinance. 

The federal minister filed a case in the Islamabad High Court on Thursday. 

   The minister was of the view that the ECP did not have the authority to interpret the law. Umar said that they requested the court an immediate hearing. 

Today on 26 March IHC refused to issue stay order on the petition on the basis of the fact that PM Imran Khan had gone to the ECP upon the notices. Hence, the ICH cannot issue a stay order. 

Next hearing of the petition will be March, 28. 

Before the verdict in favour of PTI, no official minister including the PM can participate in Public rallies. 

PTI has already announced a huge rally on 27 March in D-Chock to show case the public support and their strength. 

Will PTI abide by the law? It is unlikely.

The outspoken federal minster Sheikh Rasheed says, it's an effort to create hinderances in PTI's rallies. 

Will the PDM be able to cash the ICH decision in her favour?
